Having moved to Colne five years ago and giving birth to my son two years ago, I am still learning about all the best places to go in Colne, Nelson, Burnley and the surrounding areas in Pendle and further afield. What started as searching for baby classes to occupy my maternity leave has now grown into looking for family-fun activities for our weekends together.

I’m a firm believer that having fun doesn’t necessarily have to cost anything. People’s budgets are feeling stretched and the pressure to entertain the children while not breaking the bank is a top priority.

I just have to look around at the countryside surrounding Colne to remember how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful county as Lancashire. Exploring the countryside on my doorstep always makes me feel better, and the best part of that is, it is a really cheap way to enjoy a day out.

Colne With Kids is a mixture of activities and places to go, things to do or see and simply some inspiration for those days when you just need to get out the house for a couple of hours.

Have fun! Love, Meg

Child-friendly activities in the Colne area

From free to further afield...

This website is a collection of my experiences of where to go with a baby and young kids in Colne, the Pendle area and a little further afield. I wanted to share the things that are now useful to me as a new mum, such as: are there baby changing facilities, are there highchairs, or is there parking closeby (as struggling to the door with a baby, bags and a pram is no joke!)

I hope Colne With Kids can be a go-to resource when you are searching for things to do with the kids at the weekend, after school and in the school holidays. The kinds of things you’ll find here will range from paid-for activities or places to visit, to local parks and green spaces. Sometimes, my favourite weekend activity is to simply grab a blanket and take a picnic to the nearest park for some fresh air.
